Pic 1: 6:15am - Police escort out of town!
The police turned up at 6.15 to take Seb and Kip to collect the cars, and we left Tatarsk with a police escort - they evidently enjoy using their flashing lights, and decided to drive any other traffic off the road, and into ditches, so we could have all of the tarmac to ourselves.
Pic 2: What is the word for "propshaft"?
Midday: About 100 miles driving so far today and Kips's propshaft has worn out - it was apparently assembled without any bushes. Now we're in a bus garage in Omsk, for repairs. The mechanics have asked for the addresses of English newspapers to write about their lives.
Prop sorted and on our way again just four hours after the problem discovered. Natives very friendly and one has just handed me an Uzbek t-shirt from his car window at 35 mph! Seb has his eye on it for a rag.
Evening: Now staying in a motel just north of Omsk. Will start early in the morning aiming for Ykaterinberg by Monday night. Just had a good meal with lots of wine to celebrate Brian's return recovery.
