Tuesday 5th June - Onguday - on the road to Bijsk

All well. We've arrived at Onguday, and have reached civilisation as used an ATM! Stunning scenery here - roaring river of meltwater, steep, forested mountains, like the Alps. Couldn't be more different from the Gobi a couple of days ago. Charming B&B.

Just had supper of soup and chicken, the same as yesterday. After mutton at every meal in Mongolia, maybe similar variety here!

Congratulations- you're now past the section Annabel was most concerned about. Presumably you didn't run into too many problems getting fuel. Did you have to bribe any locals??

Hi Annabel and Seb
Congratulations on reaching the tarmac!!!!
I'd like to point out the real reason behind Paul R's comment about bribing locals. The Chucklebus is now back on the road and he wants any tips to avoid having to call the AA enroute/back from Oulton this weekend!!!!!!
Keep smiling
Catherine xx
PS Paul - only joking-honest!!!!! :)

Well done getting out of the Gobi -it looked truly horrendous from the 747 from Aus. Downhill all the way now? I doubt it, but good luck. A trip to remember!!
