Friday 8th June - From Novosibirisk to Tatarsk

Brief update from K: Yesterday the two teams met up in Novosibirsk, and plan to leave together early this morning setting out for the next long section across Siberia to Moscow. They met up with the big P2P rally arriving in town from Mongolia (who seem to have had a tough time of it as a fair few are on tow ropes / trucks), and met lots of friendly faces. By all accounts it is quiet a party atmosphere.
Later in the evening Annabel had her mobile stolen while at the restaurant.

Evening: We have arrived at a hotel in Tatarsk after the highest mileage so far - 315 miles. All well and weather fine but not hot. The land is now flat and dull - could be Normandy, except for the lack of restaurants. Just had autograph signing from keen fans, and cooked supper from local supplies.

Just as we were going to bed, a deputation arrived, including the local English teacher. They told us that we must move the cars to the police station, as they were not safe in front of the hotel. The local young people would probably remove the wheels. From the charming ones who'd been collecting our autographs this seemed unlikely, but Kip and Seb buckled under pressure and drove the cars across town, with a police escort.
